Pick a date of birth and the calculator shows the exact age in years, months and days — not just a rounded number. You can also change the second date to measure age at any moment in the past or future, which is handy for forms that ask how old someone was on a specific date.
Defaults to today — change it to measure age at any date.

How it works
The calculation counts whole calendar months first, then the leftover days — the same convention official documents use. Someone born on 17 May 1990 is 36 years, 1 month and 27 days old on 14 July 2026: count the full months up to 17 June, then the remaining days.
End-of-month birthdays need a special rule. A person born on 31 January turns one month old on the last day of February, not on the 2nd or 3rd of March, so the calculator clamps the month arithmetic instead of blindly adding 30 days. February 29th birthdays are treated as falling on 28 February in years without a leap day.
Total days are computed on a calendar basis, unaffected by daylight-saving changes, and the birthday countdown gives 0 on the birthday itself. The weekday you were born on is derived from the same date — no lookup tables involved.
Practical examples
Filling in an official form
A visa application asks for your age on the day of travel, not today. Set the second date to the travel date and read the exact years, months and days.
A child’s age in months
Pediatric growth charts use months, not years. For a baby born on 3 November 2025, the calculator shows 8 months and the exact days on top — no counting on fingers across New Year.
Birthday countdown
The “next birthday” number tells you how many days are left. Useful for planning a surprise party — or for knowing exactly when someone legally turns 18.
Age difference between two people
Run the calculation twice with the same second date and subtract the totals in days. Two colleagues born on 1 March 1988 and 17 September 1991 are 1 296 days apart.
Frequently asked questions
How is age in years, months and days actually counted?
Whole calendar months are counted first, then the remaining days. This matches how registrars and official forms count age, but note that months have different lengths, so “1 month and 3 days” can mean 31, 33 or 34 actual days depending on the dates.
What happens with a birthday on 29 February?
In years without a leap day the calculator treats the birthday as 28 February. Some countries (and some people) prefer 1 March — there is no universal rule, so we picked the earlier date and apply it consistently.
Someone born on 31 January — when are they “one month old”?
On the last day of February. The calculator clamps overflowing dates to the end of the shorter month instead of spilling into March, which is the standard convention in date arithmetic.
Can I calculate age at a past or future date?
Yes — change the second date. The default is today, but any date works, so you can check how old someone was at graduation or will be at retirement.
Why does the result show total days, weeks and months too?
Different contexts use different units: pediatricians talk in months, pregnancy and training plans in weeks, and legal deadlines sometimes in days. All of them describe the same span, precomputed so you don’t have to convert.
Does the calculation handle leap years correctly?
Yes. Total days are computed from the actual calendar, so every 29 February in the range is counted. A 26-year span can contain 6 or 7 leap days depending on where it starts.
Do time zones or daylight saving time affect the result?
No. Only calendar dates are compared, never clock times, so the result is the same whether you open the page in Belgrade or in Tokyo.
Why does my result differ from “year minus year” mental math?
Subtracting years ignores whether the birthday has already happened this year. Someone born in December 1990 is 35 in July 2026, not 36 — the calculator handles that correctly.
Is the date I enter stored anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is transmitted or saved — reload the page and the fields are empty again.
How do I find out what day of the week I was born?
It appears automatically under the result as soon as you pick a birth date. The weekday is computed from the calendar date itself.
