Enter a pressure, pick the unit you have and the unit you want, and read the answer instantly — plus the same value in every other unit at once. It covers the units you meet on a tyre gauge (bar, psi), in engineering (Pa, kPa, MPa), in weather reports (hPa) and in science (atm, mmHg). Everything runs in your browser.
In all units
- Pascal (Pa)100,000 Pa
- Hectopascal (hPa)1,000 hPa
- Kilopascal (kPa)100 kPa
- Megapascal (MPa)0.1 MPa
- Bar1 bar
- Pound per sq inch (psi)14.503774 psi
- Atmosphere (atm)0.986923 atm
- Millimetre of mercury (mmHg)750.061576 mmHg
How it works
Each unit is defined by how many pascals it equals, and every conversion goes through the pascal as a shared base. Your value is turned into pascals and then into the target unit, so results stay consistent — converting bar to psi and back returns exactly what you started with.
The conversions use exact definitions: one bar is 100,000 Pa, one standard atmosphere is 101,325 Pa, one psi is about 6,894.76 Pa, and one mmHg is about 133.322 Pa. Results are shown to six decimals with trailing zeros trimmed, which is precise enough for everyday and most technical use.
Practical examples
Tyre pressure from bar to psi
Car tyres are often quoted in bar here but in psi on foreign gauges. 2.2 bar is about 31.9 psi. Enter 2.2, from bar, to psi.
Weather pressure in hPa
A forecast reads 1013 hPa — standard sea-level pressure, which is 1.013 bar or about 29.9 inHg. Convert hPa to atm to see it as roughly 1 atmosphere.
Engineering spec in MPa to psi
A material rated to 25 MPa withstands about 3,626 psi. Convert megapascals to psi to compare a metric datasheet with an imperial one.
Frequently asked questions
How many psi are in one bar?
One bar is about 14.5038 psi, and one psi is about 0.0689 bar. The tool uses the exact factor (1 psi = 6,894.757 Pa), so tyre and equipment pressures stay accurate.
Is bar the same as atmosphere?
Almost, but not exactly. One bar is 100,000 Pa while one standard atmosphere is 101,325 Pa — about 1.3% larger. They are close enough to confuse in casual use, which is why the tool keeps both.
What pressure should my car tyres be?
Check the sticker in the door jamb or the manual — typically 2.0–2.5 bar (about 29–36 psi) for a passenger car. This tool converts the number; it does not know your specific vehicle, so always follow the manufacturer’s figure.
What is the difference between kPa, MPa and Pa?
They are the same unit scaled by 1000: 1 kPa = 1,000 Pa and 1 MPa = 1,000,000 Pa. The pascal itself is tiny (about the pressure of a sheet of paper resting on a table), so kPa and MPa are used for practical values.
What is mmHg used for?
Millimetres of mercury is the traditional unit for blood pressure and for barometric/vacuum measurements. One mmHg is about 133.3 Pa; standard atmospheric pressure is 760 mmHg. It is offered here for those readings.
Does it show gauge or absolute pressure?
It converts the number you type, unit to unit, without adding or removing atmospheric pressure. Whether a value is gauge (above atmospheric, like a tyre reading) or absolute depends on the instrument — the conversion factor is the same either way.
Does it accept the decimal comma?
Yes. You can type 2,2 or 2.2 and both mean two point two. Grouping separators in pasted numbers are read too, so 1.013 is understood correctly.
How precise are the results?
Conversions run at full floating-point precision using exact unit definitions and are shown to six decimal places with trailing zeros removed — precise enough for tyres, weather and most engineering work.
Are the values I enter sent anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded and analytics never receives the numbers you type.
